Sunrise Shell and Green Tourmaline Earrings

These earrings are created by using bead embroidery techniques, where a bezel is created around an object using thread tension and gold coated Japanese glass beads. The objects in this pair are large 1 1/2” sunrise shell earrings, which are an indigenous scallop to the Hawaiian islands. I added faceted green tourmaline to the bottom edge of the earrings to really make them pop, and the back is finished with ultra suede, which is a man-made suede that holds up to the elements. The findings are 14 karat gold fill, and do not tarnish.
