Sunrise Shell #1

Sunrise Shell #1

This necklace is created by bead, weaving, gold coated Japanese glass beads around a found object. The object in this piece is a sunrise, Cheryl, which is a scallop known to be indigenous to the Hawaiian islands also called Langford’s pectin. They are typically food for octopus, and the shells were found outside of a den. No live shows are ever picked, or used by myself, and after many hours of cleaning the shell, it is ready to be used for jewelry. The shelves were once only worn by Royal Hawaiian’s, and are considered gemstones of Hawaii amongst the locals. They are rare, and you are lucky to find them, they say the shells find you, and not the other way around. This pendant was finished by hanging it from a 14 karat gold filled micro ball chain that is an adjustable 17+ inches.
