Sanibel Earrings

These eye-catching earrings are created by using bed embroidery techniques. I wanted to capture the look of seaweed in these ocean inspired earrings and I used rare green kyanite and stick pearls as well as gold coated Japanese glass beads to create the texture of the plant. The shells  are calico shells from Sanibel Island, and Kingman turquoise is used for the gemstones. I hand stitch a bezel around each object using the same gold coated beads, and the back are finished with man-made ultra suede for comfort and style. These earrings are from 14 karat gold earring wires and they are 3 inches long.
